Osuna earns first win with Astros
Embattled new Houston relief pitcher Roberto Osuna, who is fresh off a suspension for domestic violence and traded from Toronto, picked up the victory in a 3-1 triumph Monday at San Francisco. Osuna threw one scoreless inning of relief to pick up the win. Hector Rondon threw a scoreless ninth inning, giving up one hit with two strikeouts. Alex Bregman was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run. Marwin Gonzalez finished 2-for-4 with a go-ahead 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning.
Rodriguez throws seven shutout frames
San Francisco starter Dereck Rodriguez threw seven shutout innings Monday before the bullpen blew the lead. He allowed three hits with seven strikeouts and no walks. Will Smith blew the save and took the loss, giving up three earned runs on one hit with two walks in an inning of work. Brandon Crawford paced the offense as he was 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk.
Dallas Keuchel (9-9, 3.61 ERA) gets the start today for the Astros, while Madison Bumgarner (4-4, 2.97) goes for the Giants.
MLB Betting Trends
Houston
The Astros are 38-17 in their last 55 road games. The under is 12-3-2 in the last 17 Houston road games.
San Francisco
The over is 5-2-1 in the last eight Giants games overall. The under is 9-3-2 in the last 14 Bumgarner starts on grass.
Prediction:
San Francisco had the game won yesterday until Smith imploded in the ninth. My thoughts are they bounce back today with their ace in Bumgarner on the mound. The Astros offense has been inconsistent, was silent Monday until the ninth inning and are without George Springer due to an injury that put him on the DL. Go with the Giants at home.
