Astros vs. Giants Prediction

Springer, Kemp homer in loss
Astros center fielder George Springer went 1-for-1 with a solo home run and a walk before leaving the game with an injury Sunday afternoon in a 3-2 loss at Los Angeles. Tony Kemp accounted for the other run on a solo homer, his only hit in four at-bats. Alex Bregman was 1-for-2 with a double and a walk. Marwin Gonzalez was 1-for-3 with a walk. Gerrit Cole took the loss as he allowed three earned runs on six hits with eight strikeouts and one walk over five innings.
Giants prevail by a run
San Francisco won the series finale at Arizona Sunday afternoon by a count of 3-2. Ray Black earned the win in relief as he threw one perfect inning. Will Smith earned his seventh save, striking out two in a spotless inning. Evan Longoria provided much of the offense as he finished 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, two runs and two RBIs. Andrew McCutchen went 1-for-2 with two walks and a run. Buster Posey finished 1-for-3 with a walk. Nick Hundley was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.
Charlie Morton (12-2, 2.90 ERA) will start today for the Astros, while the Giants counter with Dereck Rodriguez (5-1, 2.59).
MLB Betting Trends
Houston
The under is 12-3-2 in the last 17 Astros road games. The under is 28-10-1 in the last 39 Houston Monday games.
San Francisco
The under is 8-2-2 in the last 12 Giants games following a win. The over is 6-2-2 in the last 10 San Francisco games on Mondays.
Prediction:
Houston might be the stronger play here if you want to take a side, but don't overlook Rodriguez facing a Houston offense that has been inconsistent since the All-Star break and lost Springer to injury yesterday. I'm going to place my bet on the under as we have two pitchers having solid seasons in a park where runs are difficult to come by.
MLB DAILY PREDICTION: ASTROS/GIANTS UNDER 7.5
