D-Backs double up Yankees

Arizona secured a 4-2 victory Tuesday night at New York to improve to 54-54 overall and 31-28 on the road. Christian Walker led the way for the Diamondbacks as he finished 2-for-3 with a solo home run plus a walk. Adam Jones ended the game 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI. Carson Kelly went 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Taylor Clarke picked up the win on the mound as he gave up one unearned run on three hits with six strikeouts and two walks over 5 1/3 innings. Archie Bradley earned his first save of the season as he retired all four batters he faced. Zack Greinke draws the start today for Arizona as he enters with a 10-4 record, 2.87 ERA and 0.94 WHIP with 128 strikeouts over 141 innings. 

Wade hits first HR of seaosn

New York fell by a scount of 4-2 at home Tuesday night against Arizona to drop to 67-39 overall and 38-18 at home. Tyler Wade helped lead the offensive effort as he ended the game 1-for-2 with a solo home run. Edwin Encarnacion was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and an RBI. Gio Urshela added two hits in four at-bats. J.A. Happ suffered the loss as he gave up three earned runs on eight hits with two strikeouts and one walk over six innings. Masahiro Tanaka starts this afternoon for the Yankees as he comes in with a 7-6 record, 4.79 ERA and 1.25 WHIP with 102 strikeouts over 120 1/3 innings.

Prediction:

Tanaka has not been in good form and had been bailed out by strong run support until last start when he was torched for 12 earned runs by the Red Sox. With Greinke opposing him today, I have far more trust in the D-Backs' ace here despite going against a strong lineup. Greinke can often turn a hitter's power against him and as long as he keeps the damage limited, he should get some run support as his offense faces a pitcher whose confidence has to be a bit shot.
