Rockies drop fifth straight
Colorado lost by a score of 8-2 Friday night at New York to drop to 46-51 overall and 20-27 on the road. Chris Iannetta helped lead the Rockies offense as he ended the game 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Garrett Hampson was 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and an RBI. Ian Desmond went 2-for-4 with a double. Kyle Freeland took the loss as he surrendered five earned runs on six hits over four innings, striking out six and walking three. Antonio Senzatela will start today for Colorado as he enters with an 8-6 record, 5.79 ERA and 1.65 WHIP with 52 strikeouts over 91 2/3 innings.
Yankees dominate series opener
New York rolled to an 8-2 victory at home Friday night over Colorado to improve to 63-33 overall and 37-16 at home. Edwin Encarnacion helped pace the offense as he finished 1-for-5 with a grand slam. Aaron Judge was 1-for-3 with a home run, two walks, two runs and two RBIs. D.J. LeMahieu finished 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs against his former team. J.A. Happ picked up the win as he allowed two earned runs on eight hits with eight strikeouts and two walks over five innings. Stephen Tarpley earned the save as he allowed one hit with six strikeouts and no walks over three scoreless frames. Masahiro Tanaka will start this afternoon for New York as he comes in with a 6-5 record, 3.81 ERA and 1.15 WHIP with 95 strikeouts over 111 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
The Rockies are 1-5 in their last six road games. Colorado is 2-8 in its last 10 games versus a right-handed starter.
The Yankees are 6-0 in the last six Tanaka starts. New York is 55-23 in its last 78 games overall.
Senzatela is a good example as to why win-loss records for pitcher mean exactly nothing. He's been poor all season, home and away, and yet has eight wins among his 14 decisions. Considering he gave up seven earned runs in 4 1/3 innings in his last road start at Arizona, I can't put faith in him today. Tanaka has had an All-Star season and should be able to guide the hosts to a convincing win.
