Rockies drop fourth straight
Colorado lost by a score of 11-8 Wednesday at home versus San Francisco to fall to 46-50 overall and 26-24 at home. Trevor Story led the Rockies offense as he went 3-for-5 with a home run, a triple, a double, two runs scored and two RBIs. Ryan McMahon finished 2-for-4 with a homer, a double, two runs and two RBIs. Tony Wolters ended the game 2-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI. Jon Gray suffered the loss as he allowed six earned runs on 11 hits with three strikeouts and three walks over 5 1/3 innings. Kyle Freeland will start tonight for the Rockies as he enters with a 2-6 record, 7.39 ERA and 1.61 WHIP with 52 strikeouts over 63 1/3 innings pitched.
Four-run sixth leads Yankees past Rays
New York scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to break a tie and send it to a 5-1 home win Thursday over Tampa Bay. Luke Voit helped pace the Yankees offense as he ended the game 1-for-3 with a solo home run plus a walk. Didi Gregorius finished 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs. Austin Romine went 1-for-3 and scored a run. Luis Cessa earned the win in relief as he gave up two hits with three strikeouts and one walk over 3 1/3 scoreless innings. J.A. Happ gets the start tonight for New York as he comes in with a 7-5 record, 4.93 ERA and 1.26 WHIP with 76 strikeouts over 95 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Colorado
The Rockies are 1-4 in their last five road games. Colorado is 5-0 in the last five Freeland starts on Fridays.
New York
The Yankees are 16-5 in their last 21 Friday games. New York is 11-4 in the last 15 Happ starts.
Prediction:
Freeland has been brutal all season, a major disappointment for a Colorado team that had playoff hopes. Going up against a power-hitting Yankees team doesn't do a lot to offset getting away from Coors Field. Happ is generally efficient enough and with the run support he's likely to get, I'm taking the Yankees to earn the win here.
