Diamondbacks vs. Rockies Prediction
The Arizona Diamondbacks have only won three of their last 10 games, but still cling to a half-game lead in the NL West standings. With the Colorado Rockies sitting at 3.5 games back, will they notch an important home win today in the opener of a series versus Arizona?

D-backs fall in 16 innings
An off day Monday was a welcome for Arizona after falling at home in 16 innings by a score of 4-3 to the Padres on Sunday. Wil Myers hi a go-ahead solo home run in the top of the 16th that proved to be the difference. The home run came off Diamondbacks catcher Jeff Mathis, who was pressed into duty on the mound as his squad's 10th pitcher. Paul Goldschmidt was 3-for-6 with a double and a walk to pace Arizona. A.J. Pollock finished 2-for-3 with an RBI. Ketel Marte finished 2-for-5 with a double, two walks and a run. Mathis finished 2-for-6 with two doubles, a walk and an RBI.
Rockies see five-game win streak end
Colorado lost 6-4 Sunday afternoon at the Marlines to see its five-game winning streak come to a close. Trevor Story led the way by going 2-for-4 with a home run. Charlie Blackmon and Carlos Gonzalez each hit a solo home run. Antonio Senzatela took the loss as he allowed six earned runs on five hits with two strikeouts and three walks over six innings.
Patrick Corbin (6-3, 3.05 ERA) will take the hill for Arizona today, while Tyler Anderson (6-3, 3.90) starts for Colorado.

Prediction:
When Arizona swept at Colorado a month ago, it propelled it to the top of the NL West standings. I'd be surprised if the same happens here and I think Colorado will get the job done tonight. Eight straight home losses to the D-backs is inexcusable and the Rockies should be focused on ending that skid against their division rivals tonight. Anderson was fantastic in his last start, also at home, and I have a lot of confidence in him tonight. The under could also be a play worth making.
