Judge powers Yanks in 11th
Aaron Judge hit his second home run of the game Friday night in the top of the 11th inning to break a 4-4 tie and help propel New York to an 8-4 victory at Tampa Bay. Judge ended the contest 2-for-5 with the two solo blasts. Brett Gardner finished 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBIs. Aaron Hicks was 1-for-2 off the bench with a solo homer. David Hale picked up the win in relief as he gave up three hits with two strikeouts and one walk over 2 1/3 scoreless frames. Aroldis Chapman struck out one and walked one over two-thirds of an inning to pick up the save. CC Sabathia will start tonight as he enters with a 5-4 record, 4.04 ERA and 1.36 WHIP with 66 strikeouts over 69 innings of work.
Rays falter in extra innings
Tampa Bay lost by a count of 8-4 in 11 innings Friday night at home versus New York to drop to 50-39 overall and 24-22 at home. Michael Brosseau ended the game 3-for-5 with two doubles and a run scored to help lead the offense. Mike Zunino went 1-for-2 with a solo homer plus a walk. Nate Lowe was 1-for-5 with a solo home run. Ryne Stanek took the loss in relief as he gave up four earned runs on four hits with one strikeout and no walks over one inning. Blake Snell gets the start today as he comes in with a 5-7 record, 4.87 ERA and 1.28 WHIP with 117 strikeouts over 85 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
New York
The Yankees are 8-1 in their last nine road games. New York is 1-4 in the last five Sabathia road starts.
Tampa Bay
The Rays are 21-7 in the last 28 Snell home starts. Tampa Bay is 1-5 in its last six home games versus a left-handed starter.
Prediction:
The Yankees absolutely bombed Snell a few weeks ago in the Bronx as he only retired one batter while giving up two hits including a home run and walked four, allowing six earned runs. He was also hit extremely hard the start after, but recovered his last time out. The huge question today is what will we get out of Snell? While he is certainly going to get more than one out, I still like the way New York is playing and its sluggers to do some damage. With Sabathia not what he once was, I'm instead looking at the over here. Both bullpens are fatigued and I think we're looking at score that goes over the total.
