Yankees score five in 10th

New York scored five runs in the top of the 10th inning and then held off a Tampa Bay rally attempt Thursday night in an 8-4 road win. Gary Sanchez helped pace the Yankees offense as he finished 1-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs. Edwin Encarnacion went 1-for-5 with a solo home run. D.J. LeMahieu ended the game 1-for-5 with a run and two RBIs. Aroldis Chapman picked up the win as he gave up two earned runs on three hits with two strikeouts and two walks over one inning of work. David Hale retired the last batter of the game to earn his second save of the season. Masahiro Tanaka draws the start today as he enters with a 5-5 record, 3.74 ERA and 1.18 ERA with 85 strikeouts over 98 1/3 innings.

Rays falter in extra innings

Tampa Bay gave up five runs in the top of the 10th and then left the tying run at the plate in the bottom half of an 8-4 home defeat against New York. Oliver Drake took the loss in relief as he gave up three earned runs on one hit plus two walks without retiring a batter. Avisail Garcia helped lead the Rays offense as he finished 1-for-4 with a double, a walk and an RBI. Joey Wendle was 1-for-5 with a double, a run and an RBI. Travis d'Arnaud finished 1-for-4 with a walk and an RBI. Brendan McKay will start today for Tampa Bay as he allowed just one hit with three strikeouts and one walk over six innings in his MLB debut, a 5-2 home win over Texas.

MLB Betting Trends

New York

The Yankees are 6-1 in their last seven road games. New York is 4-0 in the last four Tanaka starts.

Tampa Bay

The Rays are 4-0 in their last four games veruss a right-handed starter. Tampa Bay is 2-5 in its last seven games versus the AL East.

Prediction:

Tampa Bay has had bullpen issues the last two days, but I wouldn't think it should be overly concerning as a whole as it has plenty of capable pitchers on the roster. With McKay going today, the bullpen will play an important role again but if he pitches anything like his MLB debut the Rays should be in great shape. A highly hyped two-way prospect, McKay already looks polished on the mound and I think he takes advantage of the Yankees trying to hit the long ball on every pitch. Expect McKay to rack up the strikeouts and get enough run support to send the hosts to a win.
