Mets edged at Nats
New York lost 7-6 Thursday afternoon in its series finale at Washington to drop to 20-22 overall and 11-14 on the road. Robinson Cano was 3-for-5 with a double, a run and an RBI in the loss. Michael Conforto finished 1-for-2 with a home run and three RBIs. Todd Frazier was 1-for-1 with a pinch-hit double and a run. Zack Wheeler suffered the loss as he gave up six earned runs on 11 hits with six strikeouts and two walks over six innings. Coming into tonight's start, deGrom has a 3-4 record, 3.26 ERA and 1.11 WHIP with 64 strikeouts over 47 innings.
Marlins shut out at home
Miami couldn't find any offense Wednesday night in a 1-0 home defeat versus Tampa Bay. The Marlins gave up the lone run in the top of the second inning and were unable to find the equalizer. Jorge Alfaro was 2-for-4 with two doubles in the loss. Curtis Granderson went 1-for-4 with a double and a walk. Garrett Cooper was 2-for-3 plus a walk. Jose Urena took the loss as he allowed one earned run on six hits over six innings, striking out two and walking one. Trevor Richards will start tonight as he enters with an 0-5 record, 4.46 ERA and 1.37 WHIP with 40 strikeouts over 42 1/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
New York
The Mets are 2-9 in their last 11 road games. New York is 16-5 in the last 21 deGrom starts on Fridays.
Miami
The Marlins are 14-38 in their last 52 games overall. Miami is 0-5 in its last five home games.
Prediction:
The Marlins can't hit much at all, let alone against deGrom. As long as the Mets offense doesn't go dormant, which isn't a stretch in a deGrom start, the Mets should enjoy a victory. I don't see a reason to risk money on pitiful Miami here.
