Orioles end losing streak
Baltimore had a four-game losing streak come to an end on Sunday in a 5-1 win at home over the Angels. The Orioles come into today’s game 14-26 overall, 8-11 on the road and 20-18 with the over. Baltimore is sending David Hess to the mound today. He is 1-4 on the season with a 5.50 ERA.
The Orioles have the worst pitching in the majors right now. Their team ERA of 5.51 ranks dead last in MLB, while their team WHIP of 1.45 ranks 28th. Offensively, Baltimore averages just 3.98 runs per game while the team is hitting .237 at the plate. Dwight Smith Jr. is leading the team with nine doubles, eight home runs and 27 RBI. Trey Mancini is adding 13 doubles, seven home runs and 16 RBI.
Yankees a top contender
New York is coming off a series win at Tampa this weekend. The Yankees have won seven of their last 10 games. New York is now 24-16 on the season, 13-9 at home and 22-17 with the over. Jonathan Loaisiga gets the start for the Yankees tonight. He is 1-1 on the season with a 4.50 ERA.
The Yankees are pretty strong on offense and defense. Pitching-wise, New York has a 3.82 team ERA with a 1.24 WHIP. At the plate, New York is averaging 5.00 runs per game while hitting .253. The Yanks remain without top hitters Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge while catcher Gary Sanchez is questionable to play today due to an injury. Luke Voit is leading the team with 10 home runs and 30 RBI while DJ LeMahieu has 10 doubles with 21 RBI and a .333 average.
MLB Betting Trends
Baltimore
The Orioles are just 6-20 in Hess’ last 26 starts and 10-43 in their last 53 series openers.
New York
The Yankees are 7-1 in their last eight division games and 5-2 in their last seven Monday games.
Prediction:
These two have met six times already this season and the road team is actually 5-1, but the Yankees are 4-2. Hess hasn’t been too solid this year, giving up at least three runs in his last six starts. He also doesn’t have any backup in the bullpen and a lineup that isn’t likely to provide much run support. Loaisiga isn’t overwhelming either, as he has only pitched a max of four innings in any start, but I think he will get the support on the mound and plate that Hess won’t. I will roll with the Yankees to stay hot at home.
MLB Prediction: New York Yankees -230
