AKRON, Ohio (TheSpread) – The WGC Bridgestone Invitational held its opening round on Thursday and Tiger Woods showed some signs of life in his return to golf.

Woods shot a 2-under 68 on Thursday in his first action in three months. He is six shots behind leader, Adam Scott, who fired off an 8-under 62 for the first round. Scott, interestingly enough, is now caddied by Steve Williams, who was recently fired by Woods.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog, Scott is now favored to win with 4/1 odds. Woods has 10/1 odds to win the tournament while Jason Day has 11/2 odds and Nick Watney has 9/1 odds.

Scott went without a bogey in his round, landing five birdies on his back 9. Woods had just one bogey on the day and he opened his round with nine-straight pars.

Day sits in second place at 7-under after firing off a 63 on Thursday. Day also had a bogey-free round.

Watney is in third place at -5 for the tournament after shooting a 65. Watney finished his round with a bogey on No. 18.

The 2011 WGC Bridgestone Invitational is played at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio and will continue on Friday, Aug. 5 and finish on Sunday, Aug. 7.
