Edges - Cardinals: Wacha: 2.41 ERA with 1.10 WHIP this season; and 5-0 team starts versus N.L. Central foes this season … Reds: Castillo: 5.64 ERA with 1.45 WHIP this season… We recommend a 1* play on St. Louis. Thank you and good luck as always.

OAK-1.5

The Oakland Athletics put a 7-2 beating on the Royals Friday night, KC's sixth straight defeat. Odds are they'll lose more than a couple of runs here again on Saturday with 29 year old southpaw Danny Duffy on the mound.

Duffy (2-6, 5.81 ERA) was knocked around for four runs on seven hits (two homers) in five innings of a 9-6 loss at LA Angels his last time out. Royals are 0-6 in Duffy's last 6 road starts vs. a team with a winning record.

Trevor Cahill (1-2, 2.77 ERA) will take the ball for Oakland. He gave up four runs at Kansas City on June 2, but the right-hander has been dealing home in Oakland all season, allowing just two runs through 28 innings of work for a minuscule 0.64 ERA.

Oakland has covered the runline in each of its last five wins. KC has covered the runline just twice during its current six-game skid.

Scott "The Bulldog" Rickenbach MLB Game #904 Saturday Free Pick Philadelphia Phillies Money Line (-) vs Milwaukee Brewers @ 1:05 ET - The Phillies Jake Arrieta had a 0.90 ERA in the month of May. Even though his first start of June did not end well, he pitched much better than the numbers indicate. Arrieta has, overall, been rock solid for Philadelphia this season and I look for him to lead the way for the Phils this afternoon as they bounce back off of an ugly 12-4 loss last night. Look for the Phillies to improve to 4-1 in Arrieta's last 5 home starts. He'll be opposed by Brewers southpaw Brent Suter. Though the Milwaukee left-hander has some decent numbers this season, he does struggle with right-handed sticks and the Phillies also could have Rhys Hoskins back for this game as well. Philadelphia has lost 3 straight but they are 3-1 this season when they enter a game on a losing streak of 3 or more games. Also, the Phillies are 5-1 the last 6 times they were off of a loss by a margin of 4 runs or more. Look for them to respond after getting crushed last night as Arrieta outduels Suter. Free Pick PHILADELPHIA

My free play is on the Arz D'backs at 7:15 ET.

The Arizona Diamondbacks surged to the top of the NL West with a 24-11 record through May 8 but then lost 15 of 17 to fall back to 26-26 and out of first place. However, Paul Goldschmidt’s emergence from a lengthy slump (he batted .144 over 27 games in May) has the D'backs trending upward again. Goldschmidt has 10 hits in his last 14 at-bats, after going 3-for-5 with a double and two HRs in Friday's 9-4 road win over the Rockies. Arizona continues its three-game series at Colorado, which has lost six of its last eight. Arizona is back in first-place at 33-29, 1 1/2 games up on the Rockies, Dodgers and Giants, who all check in at 32-31.

Saturday's pitching matchup features Arizona's Matt Koch (4-3, 3.76 ERA) going up against Colorado's Chad Bettis (4-1, 4.02 ERA). Koch recorded his second straight victory this past Sunday, allowing just three hits over seven scoreless innings against Miami. The 27-year-old rookie has posted a 2.03 ERA in three games (two starts) on the road compared to a 4.32 mark in six outings at home in Chase Field. Bettis is off a shaky outing against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday, when he gave up five runs over 5 2/3 innings and he has now allowed a total of 10 runs on 17 hits over 11 2/3 innings in his last two starts. Bettis is 1-2 with an ugly 8.44 ERA in 11 career games (eight starts) against Arizona, including a 10.13 ERA in five contests (three starts) at Coors Field.

Arizona is 7-3 in its last 10 contests overall plus last night's win makes them 7-3 in its last 10 at Coors Field, including six straight wins. Koch began the season at Triple-A Reno, was recalled April 3, optioned April 7 and recalled again April 20, taking the place in the rotation of Taijuan Walker. The Diamondbacks are 5-4 in games started by Koch and overall, he's been a nice surprise. The same can't be said of Bettis, who is winless since May 5. He's had five consecutive no decisions (Rockies are 2-3), posting a 7.16 ERA in that span, while opponents are batting .310 with a .872 OPS during the stretch. After winning the first four games Bettis started this season, the Rockies have gone 3-5 when he takes the mound and Bettis has yet to win in five 2018 home starts, posting a 7.24 ERA. The Rockies will take the field having allowed seven or more runs in each of their last five home games and this once-dominant home team is now only 11-17 at Coors this season, allowing a whopping 6.25 RPG. Play Arizona.

My comp play for Saturday is the Over in the Cardinals-Reds game.

It seems like all Cincinnati does is play Overs these days, as the Reds combined with the Cardinals last night for 13 runs in their 10 innings of play for another Cincy Over.

Cincinnati is now 7-0-1 Over the total in their last 8 games, while St. Louis has played 3 of their last 4 games Over the posted price.

Cards hurler Michael Wacha has been impossibly hot of late, as his ERA is just 0.84 over his last 3 starts, and he is 10-1 with a 2.88 ERA for his career against the Reds. I will admit, those numbers are tough to poke holes in when playing the Over, but all we need is for Cincy to cross the plate a few times, because I have a feeling Reds starter Luis Castillo will continue to serve them up.

Castillo owns a season ERA of 5.64, and he has seen the Over go 9-4 when he makes the start. He is also 0-2 with a 4.76 ERA in 2 career starts against the Redbirds.

Not much more to say, Over we go in the Cards-Reds game.

5* ST. LOUIS-CINCINNATI OVER

Your Saturday freebie is the Under in the Mariners-Rays contest with Felix Hernandez and Blake Snell taking the hill.

Seattle reverted back to the low-scoring ways in yesterday's 4-3 win over Tampa Bay, as the Mariners are now on a 13-5 Under run their last 18 games played.

With the Under last night, Tampa Bay is also on a pretty pronounced Under roll, as the Rays have seen the Under go also go 13-5 over their last 18 games contested!

Felix Hernandez just worked 8 innings of one run ball against Tampa on June 3rd, as he has seen 2 of his last 3 starts hold Under the total.

Blake Snell will counter for the Rays, and his last start was also on the 3rd opposing this M's team that he did not allow a run to in his 6 innings worked. He also struck out a dozen as each of his last pair of starts have landed Under the total.

I don't think we are going to see anything much different this afternoon at the Trop.

Mariners-Rays to play Low.

5* SEATTLE-TAMPA BAY UNDER

My free winner for tonight is on an Interleague showdown between the New York Yankees and New York Mets. As much as I'm leaning toward the Mets, the better value is with the Over in this game.

Let's start with German, who some may say made progress in his last outing, but 'only' allowing 4 runs and 7 hits in 6 2/3 innings to the Tigers, but the bottom line is he lost his third straight start. The only thing you can take faith in knowing is the Mets are going to blast this right-handed rookie, who is 0-3 with a 6.33 ERA in five starts since taking Jordan Montgomery's place in the rotation.

The reason I would lean toward the Mets is specifically because of Matz, who has slowly rounded into form after a rough April. The crafty southpaw has posted a 2.32 ERA since the start of May. The problem is, and the reason I'm not going to play the side, is he hasn’t had much success against the Yankees over the years, going 1-2 with a 7.63 ERA in three career outings.

Look for these lineups to erupt, and if you want to put a side piece on the Mets, be my guest - they're the better side.

4* OVER Yankees-Mets (German-Matz)

ERIC SCHROEDER

My free play for today is on the Chicago Cubs Run Line, over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

IMPORTANT: As you know every single Run Line play and Total wager will automatically list the scheduled starting pitchers at the time of the wager. But with this game I am not concerned with who is pitching for either team tonight and want you playing this game on the Run Line regardless. That said, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to be sure you have action even if one of the pitchers scheduled to start is scratched, by betting the game over again in the event that takes place.

The Cubs appear to be back on track, and are on the verge of repossessing the National League Central. Chicago has won three straight and eight of 10, and is sitting one-half game back of the Milwaukee Brewers, who have split their last 10.

Meanwhile, the Pirates have lost two in a row and seven of 10. The Bucs are 13-17 on the road, and will struggle today. This young kid toeing the slab today, Nick Kingham, is going to be a star in this rotation - but today he will get roughed up by an old Vegas buddy, Kris Bryant.

Look for Chicago to roll in this one.

3* CUBS RUN LINE

Free pick on Red Sox/White Sox UNDER

I like the value here with the UNDER in Saturday's MLB action that has the Red Sox hosting the White Sox. Boston will send out the red-hot David Price against Chicago's talented youngster Carlos Rodon, who is making his first start since recovering from shoulder surgery.

Price has a 2.87 ERA over his last 5 starts, a stretch in which he's not allowed more than 3 earned runs. He should have no problem shutting down one of the worst offenses in baseball. Chicago has scored just 3 runs in their last 2 games and are averaging a mere 3.9 runs/game on the season.

The Wild Card here is Rodon in his first start back, but I like his chances of performing well. He was excellent in his rehab with a 1.53 ERA over 4 starts. He also struck out an impressive 28 hitters over the 17 2/3 innings he worked. Rodon will likely get to face Boston without their best hitter in Mookie Betts, who isn't quite ready to return from the DL. He also might not have to face their other elite hitter in J.D. Martinez, who is dealing with a sore back.

UNDER is 33-16 in Price's last 49 home starts in day games and 16-4 in his last 20 starts at home against a AL Central opponent. Take the UNDER!

DERECK RODRIGUEZ (R) vs. GIO GONZALEZ (L)

Gio Gonzalez the Nats starter has won 7 straight starts, but his last loss came against a SF Giants team that my own power rankings suggest matches up well against him. Note: They Nationals are 0-5 L/5 vs the moneyline with Gio Gonzalez at home when the game is scheduled to start before 4:00 pm. If he is not awake here, he could easily get run over by a team that is revving up, as was evident when the Giants rolled to a 9-5 victory in the series opener to improve to 7-1 in its last eight games.
Meanwhile, Rodriguez the Giants starter the son HOF catcher Pudge Rodriguez looked good in his second big league appearance, shutting down Philadelphia while allowing them one run and five hits while striking out six over six innings. The kid looks like he can handle pressure as Opponents are 3-for-15 against him with runners on base and gets my support here in the underdog role here this afternoon.

SAN FRANCISCO is 17-12 against the money line as an underdog of +100 to +150 this season. WASHINGTON is 4-9 against the money line as a home favorite of -125 to -175 this season.GONZALEZ is 4-9 against the money line as a home favorite of -150 or more dating back to last season.

Play on the SF Giants to win on the moneyline

FREE PLAY on Los Angeles Angels Money Line (-) over Minnesota Twins, Saturday at 2:10 PM ET

The Angels are red hot and have won 5 straight games. On the season, Los Angeles has won 16 of 20 games with a posted total of 9 or 9.5 runs including 11-2 when on the road. With yesterday's win, the Angels have won 25 of 39 games versus teams with a losing record this season. The Twins are 45-66 (-23.5 net units!) in home games with a money line ranging from +125 to -125. Kyle Gibson gets the start for Minnesota and he is winless in his home starts this season with a 5.28 ERA at Target Field. Tyler Skaggs gets the call for the Angels here and he is 3-1 with a 2.94 ERA in his 6 road starts this season. We're going to ride the hotter team in this match-up as the Twins struggles continue. Minnesota has won just 6 times in their last 16 games while the Angels are going for their 6th win in 6 games! FREE PLAY: Bet Los Angeles Angels as a small road favorite on the money line in early afternoon action Saturday.

(906) Chicago Cubs over Pittsburgh @ 2:20 Eastern

As we forecasted Shy Guys’ took home another major win Friday 3-1 over the visiting Pirates. This time around we have a throwing rematch from the recent battle up in Pittsburgh. LHP Lester threw against RHP Kingham of Pittsburgh as the Cubs secured an 8-6 victory. Kingham had a good start to the season but, has fallen on hard times going 1-2 with an ERA that exceeds 5.00. Savvy lefty Lester on the other hand has been in and out this season, still the Cubs are in more positive space as we write. Remember, the Cubs are 29-6 in Lester’s home starts. Good Luck.

10* FREE MLB PICK (Angels -105)

I'll take my chances here with the Angels staying hot on the road against the Twins. Los Angeles won the series opener 4-2 on Friday and have now won 5 straight. They did get some bad news with the Ohtani injury, but he'll be missed more on the mound than at the plate. The big thing here is the pitching matchup. The Angels will send out Tyler Skaggs, who is 3-1 with a 2.94 ERA in 6 road starts and pitched effectively in his only start against Minnesota earlier this season. The Twins will counter with Kyle Gibson, who is 0-2 with a 5.28 ERA and 1.598 WHIP in 6 home starts. Gibson also owns an ugly 5.23 ERA in 9 career starts against LA. Give me the Angels -105!

Dodgers over Braves

This is an extremely 'high' price for a team that has four of their five starters on the DL as the Dodgers have fought to get a game above .500. Los Angeles has done it at the plate of late as they now have four players with 10 or more homers will start Alex Wood (1-4, 4.48 ERA) who pitches with seven or eight days rest because of blisters. After a poor run the Dodgers have picked up at the plate and are regaining their footing in the NL West. Take LOS ANGELES!

Both starters have ERAs in the mid to low 3.00s and neither offense has been hitting all that much and more importantly not plating to many runs. The Halos are 8-1 low in their L9 games and the Twinkies are 5-1-1 under in their last seven. The last three series games this year ended 4-2, 1-2, and 3-2 so the under 8.5 makes a lot of sense here.

The MLB Comp play is on San Diego at 4:10 eastern. The Padres fit a solid system that has won 17 of 18 times for road teams off a road loss by 2 or more runs that scored 2 or less on 5+ hits and 0 errors. SD is 6-0 on Saturdays and has won 4 straight vs rightys. They have T. Ross on the mound and have won 9 of his 10 starts when he has 5 days rest and Ross is 5-0 in game 2 of a series. Miami has lost 9 of 11 vs right handers and 2-6 vs N.L West teams. Miami is 0-4 on Saturdays. Straily on the mound for Miami has a 6.00 Home Era. Play on the Padres today.
