Sacramento had played 4 UNDERS in a row prior to their 109-101 over against Toronto on Wednesday night, while Boston had played 2 UNDERS in a row prior to Wednesday's 114-108 win at Philadelphia.

I like the Kings and the Celtics to hook up for an OVER on Friday night in Beantown, as I see both teams scoring the the triple digit neighborhood in this game.

Remember, the Kings have scored 100 points or better in 18 of their last 26 games overall since the middle of December, and the OVER is still 15-9-2 in their last 26 games.

As for the Celtics, they have allowed 100 points or more in 14 of their last 24 games overall, and they have combined with the Kings to play OVERS in 3 of the last 5 in this East-West series.

Going to look for the Friday night crowd to be entertained with plenty of offense.
Kings-Celts OVER the total.

My free play for today is on the Monmouth Hawks over the Fairfield Stags, as the MAAC comes alive tonight in the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Ct.

Tonight will be just the fourth meeting all-time, and just the second between the two programs as conference opponents. They met twice in back-to-back seasons - in 1994-95 and 1995-96 - both won by Fairfield. But the Hawks beat the Stags earlier this year, 63-60, in MAAC play

Why Fairfield cannot contend in this game - Fairfield is awful. This is a team that has lost five straight, including its last three by an average of 14 points per loss - two of them at home. Dating back to last season, the Stags have failed to cover 13 of their last 18 conference games, while they're mired in a 1-4 ATS slide at home.

Why Monmouth can cover this game - Monmouth is on a 9-2 ATS win streak on the road, and already beat a terrible Fairfield team. Confidence will be on the side of the Hawks in this matchup of bad teams. The Hawks have also covered four straight Friday night contests.

In conclusion, why Monmouth is my SMART FREE PLAY in this game - There are a couple of wins that stand out to me, with this program. One, its 13-point comeback in a win that opened the season at Hofstra. That 88-84 victort helped seal the highest comeback in any win from last season and gave the Hawks some hope. Though they haven't done much all year, they have played a decent non-conference schedule, against Penn, Seton Hall, St. John's and Penn State. And make note, the Hawks have comeback from double-digit deficits in six of their 10 wins this year (deficits of 13, 13, 11, 13, 10, 14).

Their most impressive win most recently came against league-leading Canisius, which took the Hawks lightly after taking a 36-28 lead into halftime, and ended up losing, 82-82. Monmouth had three in double figures, including Andrew Nicholas, who is the Hawks' leading total point scorer on the roster. Monmouth has covered four of its last five in conference play and six straight after a straight-up loss. Tonight the Hawks aim for the outright over the worst team in the league.

PHILADELPHIA (-4) over La Lakers

Today we turn to the NBA and back Philadelphia over the LA Lakers. LA's injury woes have been well chronicled this week and while the 76ers are not a good team they have owned the Lakers recently going 4-1 ATS their last 5 meetings. The young Philadelphia team does not play any defense but that will not be a problem tonight against a Lakers team that really struggles to score. Take the 76ers over the Lakers.

Pelicans +1

This is the second consecutive Friday where ESPN in the late half of their televised doubleheader is featuring a team that normally does not get national attention.  Last Friday a home underdog (Utah) successfully covered the spread in an energized atmosphere where the franchise was honoring long time head coach Jerry Sloan.  For those not aware in a little more than one week the city of New Orleans will be playing host to the league’s ALL-STAR WEEKEND which will put the national spotlight on a city that is best known for its football team.  The owner of the NFL New Orleans Saints recently invested in the basketball franchise which will for the foreseeable future remain in the Crescent City.  In an ironic twist this evening marks the FIRST GAME where the host Pelicans will be playing inside the NEWLY NAMED New Orleans Arena as a ten-year deal for naming rights has now turned the facility into the “Smoothie King Center” which adds further financial stability to the franchise.  ESPN has arrived at the right time as New Orleans despite a rash of injuries is playing some of their best basketball of the season WINNING 5 of the most recent 7 appearances, which is in stark contrast to the prior ten games where the Pelicans dropped nine of those decisions on the scoreboard.  At most offshore location New Orleans actually opened as a slight home favorite, but that has changed dramatically with word that Minnesota All-Star Kevin Love who is averaging a high “double double” for the season (25 points, 13 rebounds) will be returning from a one-game injury absence where he was nursing a sore neck.  There is big news for the star of New Orleans who was once a #1 overall league draft pick as Anthony Davis has just been named as an ALL STAR roster replacement for the ailing Kobe Bryant.  In this particular contest Davis has a chance to dominate in the paint since Minnesota center Nikola Pekovic will be sidelined due to injury
