According to the oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the New York Rangers are the favorites to win the East, as they have 7/2 odds. Other short odds to win are the Tampa Bay Lightning (9/2) and the Pittsburgh Penguins (11/2).

The Rangers had the top record in the Eastern Conference this past season, but they came up short in the conference finals against the Lightning. New York has won two conference titles in franchise history, last doing so in 2014.

Tampa Bay won the Eastern Conference this past season before losing in the Stanley Cup Final. The Lightning have won two conference titles in franchise history.

Pittsburgh just barely made the Stanley Cup playoffs and were promptly eliminated by the Rangers in the opening round in five games. The Penguins have won the conference title four times, last doing so in 2009.
