Three NFC Teams with Title Value

Three Teams that Offer Bettors Value to Win NFC Conference Title in 2016

Which teams offer bettors the best value right now to win the NFC championship in 2016? Here are three teams to consider.

Let's start off with the current odds. According to oddsmakers from online sports book, the Seahawks are the favorites to win the NFC title at 4/1, followed by the Panthers at 9/2. The Packers are 6/2, the Cardinals at 13/2, the Cowboys and Vikings at 10/1, respectively, and the Bears at 20/1. (Click the link provided above for a full list of current NFC Championship odds.)

So which teams offer the best value? Here are three teams that fit into three different categories of "value."

The Favorite: Seattle Seahawks (4/1)

Even though the Seahawks are the current favorites there's still value in their 4/1 odds because we're months away from the regular season kicking off. Their odds will shrink the closer we draw to Week 1 (provided they don't suffer a significant injury), but for bettors that want to strike early Seattle is being offered at a nice price. Even if Marshawn Lynch follows through on his retirement, the Seahawks will return Russell Wilson, Doug Baldwin and Jimmy Graham offensively. Plus, the core of Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, Bobby Wagner and Michael Bennett all return on defense. This team is still loaded after going to playoffs four consecutive years.

The Mid-Range Sleeper: Dallas Cowboys (10/1)

The Cowboys seem destined to never win again under Jerry Jones but if you're looking for value, Dallas offers plenty. The key is Tony Romo staying healthy but if he does, he's protected by one of the best offensive lines in the league and will have Dez Bryant back as his No. 1 target. The play of the defense was masked by the limitations at quarterback last year and the Cowboys will have an opportunity to land premium talent in the upcoming draft because they'll be picking near the top of nearly each round. It's unlikely the NFC East turns into a powerhouse division over the offseason so Dallas could return to the top of the heap after a down year.

The Long-Shot: Atlanta Falcons (25/1)

Do we think the Falcons will go from not making the playoffs to winning the conference next year? No, but out of the current long shots they're arguably the most intriguing. Atlanta seemed destined to make the playoffs in Dan Quinn's first season as head coach when the team raced out to a 5-0 start. But an ugly six-game losing streak in the middle of the season sunk the Falcons' postseason hopes. But under Quinn they showed some improvements on defense and they're sure to add more pass-rushers to compliment 2015 first-round pick Vic Beasley. Matt Ryan turned the ball over way too much in 2015 but he's still an above-average quarterback that is surrounded by the talented Julio Jones and Devonta Freeman. The Falcons still need to find a productive tight end, a second receiver to compliment Jones, and multiple pieces on defense. But they're not a hopeless long shot either.
