RICHMOND, VA (TheSpread) – Clint Bowyer got the win on Saturday night but Jeff Gordon perhaps had the best night at the Federated Auto Parts 400.

View Current NASCAR Odds

Gordon needed a good effort and some luck to earn the final spot in the Chase for the Championship, and he got it, as Gordon placed second on the night. That combined with a 16th place finish for Kyle Busch gave Gordon the final spot in the Chase by 3 points.

As for the winner, Bowyer earned his second win of the year to move up to seventh in the standings prior to the Chase re-formatting. Bowyer came into the race with 20/1 odds to win, which means a wager of $100 on him to win will pay out an additional $2,000.

Gordon stormed to second placed late in the race, finished ahead of Mark Martin, Tony Stewart and Matt Kenseth, who rounded out the top 5.

Busch was disappointed after the race to have finished outside the Chase, as he was not only a favorite to win this race, but to contend for a championship this season.
