Will Thomas step up?
Demaryius Thomas was just one of seven receivers with over 100 receptions this season. Will he rack up a lot of catches in Super Bowl 50?
According to oddsmakers at RealBets, Carolina is currently a 5.5-point favorite for Sunday’s game with the Broncos, while the over/under total for the game has been set at 44 points. These two meet in Super Bowl 50 on Sunday at 6:30PM ET. The game will air live on CBS.
Thomas caught 105 passes for 1,304 yards and six touchdowns this season despite playing for two different quarterbacks throughout the year. He has been targeted 176 times throughout the season as well. When it comes to his receptions on Sunday for the Denver Broncos against the Carolina Panthers, there are plenty of options. Oddsmakers have his shortest odds at +225 for 8 or more catches. Nine or more catches is at +450 while 10 or more is at +900. The biggest odds available are 13 or more catches, which is listed at +9000.
Thomas has had just two games with double-digit catches this season, which were both 10. He has had at least 8 catches in six games this season, but his postseason has been awfully quiet. He has had just 6 receptions for 52 yards in the two playoff games this season. In his lone Super Bowl appearance, Thomas did make 13 receptions for 118 yards, but Denver was playing from behind all game and had to air it out. This game should be more competitive and Carolina has the 11th-ranked pass defense.
