South Carolina has 13 starters back from last year’s SEC runner-up. The Gamecocks have a lot of offensive talent, led by sophomore running back Marcus Lattimore, who rushed for 1,197 yards and 17 touchdowns in his freshman season. Defensively, South Carolina allowed 23.1 points and just 112 rushing yards per game in 2010.
East Carolina has 14 starters back for second-year coach Ruffin McNeill. The ECU offense averaged 36.8 points and 438 yards per game in 2010. Leading that charge was quarterback Dominique Davis, who threw for 3,967 yards and 37 touchdowns last season. Davis is back to lead the team in 2011. On defense, the Pirates struggled, allowing 44 points per game and 227 rushing yards per contest.
In terms of Injuries, South Carolina defensive ends Jadeveon Clowney and Melvin Ingram are listed as probable to play with minor injuries while East Carolina receiver Michael Bowman is doubtful to play as he is serving a suspension.
