Rahm The Man to Beat

Rahm the man to beat as Golf’s Majors come into view

The start of a new year offers great excitement, no matter what sport you follow.

In terms of golf, it’s all about the four Major tournaments which start with the US Masters in April.

Events take place on the PGA Tour and the European Tour every week but every player involved on the golfing circuit wants to win a Major. This is the time when the fields are at their strongest and interest from the viewing public will peak.

For those unfamiliar with the calendar, let’s look at those four main events and discuss some of the players who will be looking to lift a trophy.

Majors in Order

The Augusta National Course in Georgia is the permanent home of the US Masters which traditionally kicks off the year’s Majors. In 2022, the tournament will begin on Thursday April 7th and it will conclude four days later on Sunday April the 10th.

The PGA Championship is the next Major on the calendar and this will run from May 19th to May 22nd this year. Following on in June is the US Open from the 16th to the 19th while the Open Championship returns to its spiritual home at St Andrews from the 14th to the 17th in July.

Those are your key dates for 2022 but who are the golfers to look out for?

The Men to Beat

Spain’s Jon Rahm started the year as the number one ranked golfer in the world and that lofty position makes him the favorite in all four Majors markets right now. Online sports betting sites linked to Sbo.net have Rahm in the clear for the US Masters, the PGA Championship, the US Open and the Open Championship.

A gap behind the leader follows before Collin Morikawa, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson and Rory McIlroy head up the chasing pack. All five of those chasers are multiple Major winners and will be looking to add to their trophy cabinets in 2022.

There are weekly tournaments left in the run up to those Majors and the markets have capacity to keep changing. Sbo.net will monitor matters and any updates in the odds will be shown on their website.

Whilst online, readers can keep track of the golfing world thanks to news and opinion articles that appear here. With all of that information to hand, it’s also possible to take things further and to get involved with those markets.

Each of the bookmakers referenced on the website are taking on new customers and it’s possible to find some generous welcome packages. A selection of payment methods can assist with adding funds to the account while help facilities and a range of other sporting markets are also in place.

It’s a site with lots of useful information for the golfing community but who are the players looking to depose the market leaders?

The Challengers

Bryson DeChambeau is looking to change the face of golf with his power hitting which can negate the length of most courses. The man known as The Scientist already has a Major win to his name but accuracy and consistency can be an issue.

Of the players yet to win a Major tournament, Sam Burns may be the one to watch. He’s emerged as a promising rookie and the 25-year-old has been picking up wins on the PGA Tour. 2021 was a breakthrough year for Burns who claimed victories at the Valspar Championship and the Sanderson Farms Championship.

As we saw at the start of last year, the four Majors can still provide us with an unexpected winner. Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama had been a consistent player on Tour for many years but he hadn’t won a PGA event since 2017 so his victory at the US Masters in 2021 was a huge surprise.

Can anyone replicate Matsuyama’s success or will the four Major titles go to the most obvious golfers? There is a host of high quality players waiting to challenge the likes of Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas and Dustin Johnson at the top but, whatever happens, there is another thrilling 12 months of golf to look forward to.
