Saban not focused on satellite camps
After spending part of last week lashing out about satellite camps, Alabama coach Nick Saban now says his focus is on the Crimson Tide.
On Thursday, while talking to the media during his Nick’s Kids Golf Tournament, he clarified his thoughts on the satellite camps that have been something Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh has been using a great deal.
“We’re trying to get guys to cover the camps, but most of our assistant coaches and myself – I’m not going to go to any satellite camps – we sort of made the decision that it’s more important 9to spend time with our players),” Saban said to ESPN. “Especially in this time period because there’s only limited time periods in the summertime where we have time to spend with our players. So we’re going to invest a little bit more time in that, especially me, because I don’t feel like I get to spend enough time around our players. I’m concerned about our players doing the right thing when it comes to being good people, going to school and knowing what they’re supposed to do academically, as well as do the things that we can to help them with in terms of trying to develop them and get them ready for the season.”
