Bears crack the rankings
Cal has found itself in the top 25 after a 3-0 start to the season. The Bears defeated Washington on the road two weeks ago and beat North Texas last week, 23-17. Cal is just 1-2 against the spread while hitting the under in all three games.
The Bears have been reliant on their defense this season, allowing just 16.3 points and 313.7 yards per game. Offensively, Cal hasn’t been too powerful, averaging 23.3 points and 350.7 yards per contest. The team is being led by quarterback Chase Garbers, who has 478 passing yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 130 yards. Christopher Brown Jr. is the leading rusher with 324 yards and two touchdowns. Evan Weaver is leading the defense with 40 tackles.
Rebels looking for big win
Ole Miss improved to 2-1 on the season last weekend thanks to a 40-29 win over Southeastern Louisiana. The Rebels are just 1-2 against the spread while going 2-1 with the under.
Mississippi is also a stronger defensive team than it is offensive. The Rebels are giving up just 20.3 points and 366.7 yards per game defensively while putting up 27 points and 371.7 yards per game on offense. Quarterback Matt Corral has thrown for 578 yards and four touchdowns to lead the offense while Scottie Phillips is the leading rusher with 308 yards and four scores. Elijah Moore is the leading receiver by a long shot with 18 catches for 278 yards and three scores.
College Football Betting Trends
California
Cal is 10-1 with the under in its last 11 road games and 7-1 with the under in its last eight non-conference games.
Ole Miss
The Rebels are 9-3 with the over in their last 12 non-conference games and 14-6 with the over in their last 20 home games.
Prediction:
These two met two years ago with Cal picking up a 27-16 win at home. Ole Miss has had a lot of turmoil since then and still trying to put the pieces together to figure out its identity. Neither offense has been impressive, but the total is just so low, it is hard to pass up the over. In college football, it’s pretty tough to get a game under 40 points, especially with the talent level of the SEC and Pac-12. Both teams have athletes capable of big plays and all you need is a few breakout plays to make this over hit easy. Averages alone have these two putting up 50 points.
College Football Week 4 Prediction: California/Ole Miss Over 41.5
