LAS VEGAS, NV (The Spread) – The Oregon Ducks have great odds to win the 2015 FBS Championship but can they finally get over the hump?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Ducks are 8/1 to win the 2015 college football FBS Championship. Their odds place them third behind only defending champion Florida State (11/2) and Alabama (6/1). Auburn is also 9/1 to win next season’s title, while Ohio State is 10/1 and Oklahoma is 12/1.
The Ducks lost some key talent to the NFL in the offseason, including receiver Josh Huff, running back/receiver De’Anthony Thomas and tight end Colt Lyera. Fortunately, Oregon recruits well every year and won’t have any issues putting up points in 2014-15.
In fact, Oregon returns 10 of 11 starters on offense for 2014, including 2013 All-Conference signal-caller Marcus Mariota and the entire offensive line from last year. Coupled with Mariota’s dynamic ability, the running back duo of Byron Marshall and Thomas Tyner will give opponents fits this upcoming season.
On defense, 2013 All-American cornerback Ifo Ekpre-Olomu returns after an outstanding season. He’s likely to be a first-round pick in next year’s NFL draft and is one of the best cornerbacks in the nation, if not the best. Tony Washington and Arik Armstead also return to the defensive line, which should be solid.
The Ducks have a key early-season matchup with non-conference foe Michigan State. A win there would go a long way in securing Oregon’s playoff chances, provided of course that the team doesn’t suffer multiple Pac-12 losses along the way. The key date will be November 1, when the Ducks host Stanford in a matchup that has become an annual challenge for Oregon.
