Can Duke handle Yale today?
No. 4 Duke hopes to avoid a loss to upset-minded No. 12 Yale when the two meet in the NCAA Tournament today at 2:40PM ET on CBS.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Duke is the favorite in today’s game, as the Blue Devils are getting odds of -6 points against Yale. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 146 points. These two meet as part of the West Region today from the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island.
Duke is now 24-10 on the season, 4-3 on a neutral floor and 13-18-2 against the spread. Yale is 23-6 overall, 2-0 on a neutral court and 12-6-2 against the spread. Yale advanced to this game with a 79-75 win over Baylor on Thursday while Duke had a 93-85 win over UNC-Wilmington. These two actually met back on Nov. 25 with Duke getting an 80-61 win at home.

These two teams are different from their Nov. 25 meeting. The Blue Devils don’t have the same depth or talent to work with while Yale has improved and developed over the last three months. However, there seems to be too much hype on Yale right now. The win over Baylor was nice, but playing a program like Duke 48 hours later is another story. The Blue Devils have covered in 5 straight against Ivy League opponents and are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 NCAA Tournament games. Yale is just 2-5 ATS in their last 7 against the ACC. The spread is pretty low given Yale’s performance on Thursday, but Duke should be able to handle the 6 points today.
