JOLIET, IL (TheSpread) – Matt Kenseth won the pole for Sunday’s GEICO 400 and he will now start up front in the first Sprint Cup race in the Chase for the Championship.

According to oddsmakers, Kyle Busch and Jimmie Johnson are the favorites to win with 5/1 odds while Carl Edwards and Jeff Gordon each have 6/1 odds to win

Busch is currently tied for the points lead and he has four wins and 13 top 5’s on the year, both are most of any driver in the series. At Chicagoland Speedway, Busch has one win and an average finish of 13.5 in six races. His driver rating there is 98.3, which ranks seventh in the series. Busch will start 9th on Sunday.

Johnson is tied for fifth in the current standings, 9 points out of first. His lack of wins has pushed him back to start the chase, as he has just one victory this year. He leads the series with 17 top-10 finishes. Johnson has never won at Chicagoland, but his average finish is 10.0 His driver rating is 112.0, which actually is best of any driver. Johnson will start 12th on Sunday.

Edwards is fifth in the standings as well. He has one win and 12 top 5’s on the year. Edwards has two top 5’s at this track, but is winless there. His average finish is just 18.3 while his driver rating is 89.4, which ranks 10th in the series. Edwards will begin from the 5th position.

Gordon is third in the point standings, 3 points out of first. Gordon has three wins and 10 top 5’s this year. Gordon has one win at Chicagoland with six top 5’s. His average finish is 8.6 while his driver rating is 100.7, which ranks fifth in the series. Gordon will start 23rd on Sunday.
