MEMPHIS, TN (The Spread) – The 2012 Liberty Bowl takes place today at 3:30PM ET, featuring Iowa State and Tulsa battling it out from Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium.

Iowa State ended the regular season with a 31-24 loss to West Virginia. The Cyclones went 2-5 over their last seven games and finished 3-6 in Big 12 play. The ISU offense averaged just 25.2 points per game this season while the defense allowed only 23.3 points per contest. The team is being led by quarterback Steele Jantz, who has thrown for 1,562 yards and 13 touchdowns, but he is listed as questionable for this game due to a concussion.

Tulsa is coming off a 33-27 overtime win against Central Florida in the Conference USA Championship Game. The Golden Hurricanes went 7-1 in conference play and had two of its three losses come by 8 points or less. The Tulsa offense averaged 35 points per game this season while the defense allowed 24.2 points per contest. The team is led by a running back duo of Trey Watts and Ja’Terian Douglas, who have combined for 1,816 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns.

In terms of Injuries, Tulsa tackle Brian DeShane is out for this game with a leg injury. Iowa State offensive lineman Brayden Burris is questionable with a leg injury while running back Shontrelle Johnson is doubtful with a knee injury.
