SAN DIEGO, CA (The Spread) – A pair of explosive teams meet in the 2012 Holiday Bowl, as UCLA faces Baylor on Thursday at 9:45PM ET from Qualcomm Stadium.

UCLA is 9-4 on the season and 8-5 against the spread while Baylor is 7-5 overall and 8-4 against the spread. The Bears have hit the over 8 times this season while the Bruins have hit it 9 times. These two teams have no recent meetings.

UCLA is coming off back-to-back losses to Stanford to end the season, including a 27-24 loss in the Pac-12 Championship Game. The Bruins went 6-3 in Pac-12 play to win the South Division under new coach Jim Mora Jr. This year’s team averaged 35.1 points per game on offense while allowing 25.9 points per game on defense. UCLA is being led by running back Johnathan Franklin, who has rushed for 1,700 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Baylor ended the season on a three-game winning streak with victories over Kansas State and Oklahoma State included in that run. Baylor went just 4-5 in Big 12 play, but still had one of the top offenses in the country, averaging 44.1 points per game, which ranks fifth nationally. On defense, Baylor has struggled. The Bears are 117th in the country, allowing 38.2 points per game. Baylor is being led by quarterback Nick Florence, who has thrown for 4,121 yards and 31 touchdowns this season.
