MacIntyre receives contract extension

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - San Jose State football coach Mike MacIntyre has agreed to a contract extension through the 2017 season.

Athletic director Tom Bowen announced the new deal Wednesday. The announcement gives MacIntyre more stability one week before national signing day.

The 46-year-old MacIntyre went 5-7 in his second season with the Spartans for the school's best finish in five years. San Jose State won at Fresno State for the first time in 24 years and also beat Navy and Colorado State to improve on a 1-12 mark from his first season.
