ATLANTA, GA (The Spread) – CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman reports that Phillies’ starter Cole Hamels is unlikely to approve a trade that would send him to the Houston Astros.
As Heyman notes, the Astros would love to acquire Hamels but “there still is no reason to believe its feeling is reciprocated by Hamels.” The Astros are currently in first place in the AL West and are looking to add a big arm before the end of the month. Hamels would certainly qualify, although he’s been on the trade market for multiple deadlines and yet remains property of the Phillies so we’ll see if a move is made.
The Phillies will be in Atlanta tonight to take on the Braves at 7:35PM ET. According to oddsmakers from online sports book GT Bets, the Phillies are +160 money line underdogs for tonight’s game, while the Braves are -170 money line favorites. Adam Morgan will take the mound for Philadelphia while Julio Teheran draws the start for Atlanta.
As for the Astros, they’ll visit the Red Sox at 7:10PM ET. Houston is +107 money line underdogs versus Boston, which is -117. Daniel Straily will start for the Astros and will be countered by Justin Masterson.
