The Montreal Canadiens have signed Nick Suzuki to an eight-year, $63 million contract extension. It comes with a reasonable $7.875 million cap hit. Suzuki is in the final year of his entry-level contract and he’s coming off a really impressive season. The 22-year-old had 15 goals and 41 points in 56 games last season and he was instrumental during his team’s run to the Stanley Cup Final (he already has 23 points in 32 career postseason games). He’s already one of the top two-way centers in the game.

Mitch Marner didn’t complete Tuesday’s practice for precautionary reasons. Marner was potentially hurt during a collision with Wayne Simmonds. We’ll list him as still being healthy for now, but he’ll be re-evaluated on Wednesday so his status could change. For what it’s worth, the Leafs didn’t appear to be too concerned, including Jason Spezza. “I think it’ll be fine,” Spezza said. “I haven’t talked to him so maybe I shouldn’t make light of it [laughs], but it seemed like it was a pretty minor thing.”

Canadiens vs. Maple Leafs Betting Prediction

The under is 4-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams, is 4-1-2 in the Canadiens’ last seven road games and is 5-2-5 in their last 12 games overall. The under is also 4-1 in the Maple Leafs’ last five games overall, is 4-1 in their last five games as a favorite and is 7-2-2 in their last 11 games following a win.
