Sharks vs. Canucks Series Odds
(TheSpread) – The Vancouver Canucks take on the San Jose Sharks in the 2011 NHL Western Conference Finals, which get underway on Sunday night.
Vancouver is the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference and overall while San Jose is the No. 2 seed in the West. These two get play started in their series on Sunday at 8PM ET.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog.com Vancouver is a slight favorite to win the series with odds of -160 while San Jose has odds of +140.
Vancouver defeated No. 8 Chicago in the opening round of the playoffs in seven games and then defeated No. 5 Nashville in the second round in six games. The Canucks have lost three games on the road during the playoffs. Ryan Kesler has led Vancouver with 15 points, including five goals and 10 assists.
San Jose got past No. 7 Los Angeles in six games to start the playoffs and then beat No. 3 Detroit in seven games. The Sharks led Detroit 3-0 in the series but were forced to a Game 7, where it won 3-2. San Jose has been led in the playoffs by Ryan Clowe, who has 13 points on four goals and nine assists.
These two teams met four times during the season and Vancouver won three of the four contests. Two of the four games were decided by shootouts. Just one time in the four games did the favorite win the game.
Trends show that San Jose is 11-5 in their last 16 games with Vancouver and the over has hit in five of the last six games players between these two teams.
In terms of injuries, San Jose comes into the series healthy while Vancouver wing man Mikael Samuelsson is doubtful for the series opener with a leg injury.
