Welker Back in Action
Foxborough, MA – Wes Welker is surprised by the strong, hopeful reaction to his return to practice just four months after major knee surgery.

The Patriots star receiver said Monday he didn’t think it would be that big a deal when he worked out last Wednesday with his teammates during New England’s organized team activities. But fans and reporters were surprised he was back so soon.
The team began another set of OTAs on Monday, covering four days. As he did last week, Welker did agility drills, ran routes at less than full speed and caught passes from Tom Brady.
Welker said Monday that he feels all right and is working hard to return to game action as soon as possible. But he wouldn’t say if he’s aiming to return for the season opener on Sept. 12 at home against the Cincinnati Bengals.
