Colts vs. Texans Free Pick
(The Spread) – AFC South rivals clash in Houston when the Texans host the Colts at 1:00PM ET on Sunday.
Odds: With Peyton Manning out for the Colts, odds makers have made the Texans 9-point favorites for Sunday’s game. The over/under total for this AFC South showdown is currently sitting at 43.5 points.
Line Movement: When the point spread opened in Las Vegas back in April, the Texans were installed as 1-point home underdogs. But that was back when Peyton Manning was expected to play. Now that Kerry Collins will start for Indy, the Texans are 8.5-point favorites in Vegas and 9-point favs online. The over/under opened at 47.5 points but it has dropped to 43.5 in Vegas now that Manning is out.
Public Betting: Of the 22,000-plus wagers on Sunday’s game, 60% of NFL public bettors currently favor the Texans -9. Click on the link provided for up-to-the-minute public betting information, as these numbers are subject to change leading up to kickoff.
NFL Free Pick: Take Indy. According to latest NFL trends, the Colts are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games as an underdog and 5-1 ATS in their last six games as a road underdog. They’re also 4-1 ATS in their last five games in September and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five road games. Kerry Collins isn’t a long-term fix but he’s not completely incapable of leading an NFL offense. After all, he is a 38-year-old veteran with postseason experience. He’s not Peyton Manning but he’s not Curtis Painter either. These two teams know each other extremely well, which should lead to a close game and an Indianapolis cover.
2011 NFL WEEK 1 FREE PICK: INDIANAPOLIS COLTS +9
