The Bulldogs are 8-1 in season openers under coach Mark Richt, with last year’s loss to Oklahoma State being the first for Richt. The Bulldogs are also 8-0 against the Sun Belt Conference with Richt.

Oddsmakers from online sports book BroburySports.com currently list Georgia as 28.5-point favorites at home against the Ragin’ Cajuns. The over/under has been set at 52.

Georgia was 8-5 last season, which was the worst record in Richt’s tenure with the team. The Bulldogs returns 17 starters this season, including 10 on offense. The only replacement comes at quarterback, where the Bulldogs will start redshirt freshman Aaron Murray. Georgia will rely on the running game, with its top four rushers back from a year ago. On defense, Georgia returns five from a group that allowed 25.9 points and 339 yards per-game in 2009.

Louisiana-Lafayette has never played a team from Georgia and is 0-19 in their last 19 road openers. The Cajuns were 6-6 last season under coach Rickey Bustle, which was their third 6-6 mark in four seasons. This year, Louisiana returns five starters on offense, led by quarterback Chris Masson, who threw for 2,406 yards in 2009. On defense, Louisiana averaged 30.3 points and 404 yards allowed per-game, but bring back eight starters.
