Virginia-USC Pick
After allowing 588 yards last week, can USC play enough defense to cover against Virginia on Saturday night?
USC is a 20-point favorite over Virginia according to oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com. The over/under has been set at 51 points.
USC is 0-1 against the spread for the season while hitting the over in their lone game. Since 2008, the Trojans are just 12-15 ATS in all lined games and 2-5 ATS in September contests. In terms of over/unders, the Trojans have hit the under in 8-of-11 games when playing at home since 2008.
Virginia has not played in a lined game this season and is pretty split down the middle ATS in most categories. The only glaring trends show the Cavaliers as 0-1 ATS against the Pac-10 since 2008 and 1-3 ATS in September contests during that stretch. Virginia has hit the over in all six non-conference games since the 2008 season.
USC game up a lot of points and yardage against Hawaii, but the Warriors are known for their offensive capability, while Virginia is inept offensively. The Cavaliers averaged just 270 yards of offense last season and USC should have no issue moving the ball against the Virginia defense. Despite their poor display last week, we like USC to cover the spread and hit the over.
