Auburn has won eight of the last nine meetings between these two teams, with the lone loss coming in 2007. The Tigers are coming off a 52-26 win over Arkansas State last weekend while the Bulldogs defeated Memphis 49-7.
Auburn has won its last five road openers, including a 3-2 win at Mississippi State in 2008. The Tigers were led in the season opener by Cameron Newton, who rushed for 171 yards and two touchdowns while throwing for 186 yards and three touchdowns. Auburn tallied 608 yards of offense in the victory but also allowed 366 yards to Arkansas State.
Mississippi State totaled 569 yards of offense with 28 first downs to just 237 yards and nine first downs for Memphis. The Bulldogs were led on the night by quarterback Tyler Russell, who was 13-for-16 passing for 256 yards and four touchdowns.
