MIAMI (AP) – Justise Winslow was taken by the Miami Heat with the No. 10 pick in Thursday’s NBA Draft.
Winslow spent his lone collegiate season at Duke, helping the Blue Devils win the national championship by averaging 12.6 points per game. The 6-foot-6, 225-pound forward was considered a top-five talent on many draft boards.
Choosing Winslow is the first step in what’s going to be an eventful few days for the Heat.
Most notably, Dwyane Wade has an opt-in decision early next week and there’s already speculation that he and the Heat won’t find common ground on a new deal – which would send the face of the franchise into free agency and looking for a new home.
Luol Deng also has a player option and Goran Dragic will become a free agent.
