Thunder vs. Mavericks Series Odds
(TheSpread) – The 2011 Western Conference Finals finally get underway on Tuesday as the Dallas Mavericks take on the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Dallas is the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference and will have the home court edge in the series while Oklahoma City is the No. 4 seed.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com the Mavericks are the favorites to win the series with odds of -220 while the Thunder come in with odds of +170.
Dallas reached the conference finals by disposing of the two-time defending NBA Champs, the L.A. Lakers, in four games. The Mavericks dominated the series from start to finish. Dallas also beat Portland in six games to open the playoffs. Dallas has yet to lose at home in the playoffs. Dirk Nowitzki is leading the Mavericks as he is averaging 26.5 points per game on just under 50 percent shooting from the floor and 60 percent shooting from 3-point land.
Oklahoma City reached the conference finals by beating Memphis in a hard-fought seven-game series. The Thunder lost one game at home but also won one game on the road. In the playoff opener, The Thunder beat Denver in five games as it went 3-0 at home and 1-1 on the road. Kevin Durant is leading Oklahoma City with 28.9 points per game.
These two teams faced off three times during the regular season and Dallas won two of the three meetings. The Thunder were actually favored in all three games but were outrebounded in every contest.
Trends show that the Thunder are 6-0-1 against the spread in their last 7 meetings in Dallas while the road team has covered in 18 of the last 27 games in this series.
In terms of injuries, Dallas forward Caron Butler is out for the start of the series due to a knee injury while Oklahoma City forward Serge Ibaka is probable for Tuesday night despite an ankle injury.
