Dover FedEX 400 Predictions
DOVER, DE (ATS Consultants) – The NASCAR Sprint Cup moves to Dover International Speedway in Delaware for the FedEx 400.
This is the 13th race on the 2013 Sprint Cup schedule. Dover is a one-mile racetrack that requires drivers to find a rhythm in order to make speed. The corners are lower than the banked straightaways, giving drivers the sensation that they drop into the turn and climb up to the straights. Jimmie Johnson is the favorite and considering he has seven career wins here, that’s no surprise.
He crashed in the spring a year ago and wound up 26th. That was his first finish of worse than 11th since 2006. He has one win in that period and a fifth place run last fall. His average finish in this ten race time span is 4.9.
Smoke has had limited success here since 2005. Before that year, he had a worst finish of 11th and all of his other finishes were better than 7th.
Long Shot
He has two top tens here in Dover but just a 23rd average finish. He finished fourth in 2009 and made the Chase.
