MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -Detroit Tigers right fielder Magglio Ordonez was scratched from the lineup Monday night against Minnesota with a recurrence of the injury to his side that kept him out earlier this month.
Tigers manager Jim Leyland said Ordonez “doesn’t feel right” and would be examined by a doctor.
“I’m not going to take any chances,” Leyland said.
Ordonez was originally set to bat third against the Twins, but was removed about a half-hour before the game. After skipping six games this month because of soreness around his left oblique muscle, Ordonez has sat out two days in a row. He’s hitting .319 with 10 homers and 49 RBIs.
Ryan Raburn moved from second to third in the lineup and from second base to left field. Ramon Santiago entered the lineup at second base and batted second. Brennan Boesch moved from left field to right.
Detroit won 7-5 to take over first place in the AL Central from Minnesota.
