Jake Odorizzi tossed five shutout innings while allowing three hits in Tuesday's win over the Rockies. It would be nice if Odorizzi could have provided a little more length in this one, but it was a serviceable enough outing for the veteran right-hander. He struck out three and walked two over his five innings of work, finishing the night having thrown 81 pitches. This was Odorizzi's fifth shutout showing in 16 appearances (15 starts) this season. He will bring a middling 4.59 ERA and 1.19 WHIP into a road date with the Royals when he next takes to the mound.

Salvador Perez launched his 30th home run of the season on Sunday in the Royals' lopsided defeat at the hands of the Cardinals. Perez put the Royals on the board with a titanic 450-foot two-run shot to left-center field -- his 30th round-tripper of the season -- off righty reliever Justin Miller. The 31-year-old backstop is a near lock to eclipse the surreal 40-homer mark, and might even have an outside shot at 50 round-trippers this season. He's hitting .277/.310/.521 with 54 runs scored, 30 homers, 75 RBI and one steal across 471 plate appearances.
