Jays destroyed
The Toronto Blue Jays had their 2-game win streak end on Friday in a 15-2 loss at Houston. Toronto is 25-44 overall, 13-22 on the road and 35-32 with the under. Clayton Richard is taking the mound today. He is 0-2 on the season with a 7.04 ERA.
The Jays got lit up early and never would be able to get on track in Friday’s loss. Aaron Sanchez pitched just three innings in the start, allowing eight runs on six hits with three walks. He falls to 3-8 with the loss. Cavan Biggio had the two RBI for the Blue Jays thanks to a double while Freddy Galvis had two hits.
Astros roll in opener
Houston has won three of its last four games following the 15-2 win at home over the Blue Jays. The Astros are 47-23 on the season, 26-10 at home and 38-29 with the under. Houston has Frambler Valdez on the mound. He is 2-2 on the season with a 2.73 ERA.
The Astros pounded out 12 hits for their 15 runs on Friday. They finished with four home runs. Alex Bregman hit his 19th home run and drove in three runs while Robinson Chirinos hit his 12th home run had six RBI. Yordan Alvarez had three hits, three RBI and scored three runs. Gerrit Cole pitched six innings and allowed just two runs, but had 10 strikeouts. He is now 6-5 on the season.
MLB Betting Trends
Toronto
The Blue Jays are 2-9 in their last 11 games following a loss and 2-8 in their last 10 road games.
Houston
The Astros are 5-1 in their last six home games against a left-handed starter and 10-3 in their last 13 against AL East opponents.
Prediction:
After getting shelled on Friday, Toronto now has Richard taking the mound today. He gave up seven runs in 2.2 innings in his last start and has allowed multiple runs in three of his four outings. Valdez made his first start a week ago and went seven strong innings against Baltimore. I think he has the ability to do the same against a very poor Toronto lineup. I would expect today’s game to go similarly to Friday’s, with the Astros rolling to another big win.
MLB Prediction: Houston Astros -1.5 (-120)
