UFC 164 will take place from the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with the main card bouts airing live on PPV at 10PM ET.
The main event of Saturday’s card is a battle for the UFC Lightweight Championship with Benson Henderson (19-2) defending his title against Anthony Pettis (16-2). According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Henderson is the slim favorite in this bout, as he has odds of -125 to win, while Pettis has a money line of -105 to prevail. These two met in the final bout of the WEC back in December of 2010, with Pettis picking up a decision win over Henderson. Since then, Henderson has been on a tear, winning seven straight UFC bouts and defending his title three times. Pettis has won his last three fights, with his last two coming by first round TKO. This fight will also be in Pettis’ hometown of Milwaukee. Pettis is one of the most dynamic strikers in the UFC. He can throw kicks and knees from anywhere and do it in a variety of ways. He is also very aggressive off his back if taken down. Henderson is a very strong wrestler that has improving striking, but he won’t want to do too much striking with Pettis. Henderson has a tremendous engine, and never tires during a 25-minute fight.
The co-main event of Saturday’s card is a heavyweight bout between Josh Barnett (32-6) and Frank Mir (16-7). According to oddsmakers, Barnett is the favorite to win, as he has odds of -175 to prevail, while Mir has a money line of +145 to win. Both men are former UFC champions, but Barnett is fighting in the UFC for the first time since 2002. Barnett is a powerful wrestler with good striking. He likes to smother his opponents and tire them out. Mir relies more on patience and submission fighting to get his victories. He has power in his hands, but isn’t a technically-strong striker. Mir has lost his last two fights and looked tired and slow doing so.
