With its loss to South Carolina on Saturday, Alabama has fallen from the top spot in the top 25 poll. The No. 1 spot now belongs to the Ohio State Buckeyes, who trounced Indiana in Week 6.
When the odds opened, oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com made Alabama a 7/2 favorite to win the 2011 BCS National Championship. Ohio State was 13/2, while Oregon was 12/1, Texas was 14/1 and Florida was 15/1.
But all of that has changed now.
Six weeks into the season, the Tide are out at the top, while Ohio State is in and Texas and Florida aren’t even a part of the discussion anymore after a couple of crucial losses.
Oregon, however, has moved all the way into the second spot behind Ohio State with a couple of big wins, most notably a 52-31 victory over Stanford. The only team that has come even remotely close to knocking off the Ducks was Arizona State, which still lost 42-31.
The new standings were released on Sunday and while the Buckeyes and Ducks occupy the top two spots, Boise State (3), TCU (4) and Nebraska (5) round out the top 5.
When the new 2011 BCS title odds are released, we’ll take a look at the updated odds, so check back soon.
