The top seed in the Western Conference begins play in the 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs on Wednesday at 10:30PM ET as the San Jose Sharks take on the Colorado Avalanche.

The Sharks are the top seed while the Avalanche are the No. 8 seed and San Jose is the clear favorite to win the series.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com have given San Jose a betting line of -500 to win this series while Colorado has been given a +350 line.
San Jose finished the year with 113 points as the Sharks won 51 games. San Jose scored 264 goals and allowed 215 to win the Pacific Division. The Sharks finished the year having won eight of their last 10, which is tied for most of any playoff teams. The Sharks are seeking their first Western Conference and Stanley Cup championship this year.
Colorado enters the playoffs with 95 points off 43 wins. The Avalanche scored 244 goals this season but allowed 233. Colorado struggled to end the season, winning just three of their last 10 games. The Avalanche has won two Stanley Cups in franchise history, with the last coming in 2001. Colorado has also won the Western Conference title on two occasions.
