PITTSBURGH (AP) – Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Cameron Heyward is focusing on more sacks, not more money.
Heyward is entering the final season of his rookie contract and coming off a productive 2014 in which he tied for the team lead with 7 1/2 sacks.
Heyward says the Steelers need to average around three sacks a game to be effective. They haven’t averaged that since going to the Super Bowl in 2010. Heyward says he’s willing to do whatever it takes, whether it’s occupy blockers to free up teammates or just go after the ball.
The Steelers finished up minicamp on Thursday. They report for training camp at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe on July 25.
