The Super Bowl wouldn’t be what it is without Prop Betting. Here is a look at prop bets for the New Orleans Saints heading into Super Bowl XLIV.
The Indianapolis Colts enter the Super Bowl as 5-point favorites over the Saints according to online sports book Sportsbook.com. The Over/Under for the game has been at 55.5.
When breaking down the Saints prop bets, our writers and handicappers came up with a few bets to consider.
One bet we like is for the Saints to convert a fourth down attempt, which has a betting line of +125. In the Super Bowl, teams tend to be more aggressive by nature and let it all hang out. In this game, the Saints are looking to out-score the powerful Colts, so settling for a field goal won’t be as likely in a fourth and short situation. During the season, the Saints were 6-for-15 on fourth down attempts and in the playoffs the Saints have attempted a fourth down in each game, converting one of two attempts. Since the line is at +125, there isn’t major risk in losing a lot of money, but you can gain a fair amount in return.
An under to consider for this game is receptions for Pierre Thomas. The over/under has been set at 3.5 and we feel that this will go under. Thomas has reached this mark just six times in the season and with the recent emergence of Reggie Bush in the playoffs, the Saints will be looking to get him more touches, especially in the passing game, in replace of Thomas.
Marques Colston has his receiving yards set at 74.5 for this game. This is a tough number for him as he has surpassed it seven times this season, but he has also been streaky. With this being the biggest game of his life, you have to expect him to make an impact if the Saints are to be successful. That is why we like the over.
