Oakland will be the sight for the AFC West battle between the Chargers and Raiders this Sunday at 4:15PM ET. Read on to check out our pick for this Week 5 matchup.
Before we get to our pick for this game, let’s take a look at the odds.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com currently list the Chargers as 6-point favorites over the Raiders in Week 5. The over/under total for this game is currently 45 points.
The Chargers improved to 2-2 on the year by shellacking the Cardinals last Sunday. They’re 2-2 against the spread this year as well, although they’re 0-2 straight up and 0-2 ATS on the road thus far.
The Raiders dropped to 1-3 after losing 31-24 to the Texans last Sunday in Oakland. They’re now 1-3 against the spread and they haven’t faired too well at home thus far, as they’re 0-2 ATS at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum.
The Pick:
It may seem illogical to pick the Raiders given their struggles at home so far, but there’s always value in taking home dogs. Plus, the Raiders are 7-1 against the spread in their last eight games following an ATS loss and 4-1 ATS in their last five games after allowing more than 30 points in their previous game.
Meanwhile, San Diego is 1-7 against the number in their last eight games after allowing less than 15 points in their previous contest. They’re also 0-3-1 against the spread in their last four games following an ATS win and again, they’ve struggled on the road in their previous two games. My pick is the Raiders +6.
