NFL Week 5 Point Spreads
Can you believe the first quarter of the NFL season is already in the books? Several non-conference matchups highlight this weekend’s schedule; let’s take a look at the point spreads and over/under totals for Week 5 in the NFL.
There are more than a handful of surprises on the Week 5 schedule, starting with the game in Cleveland. Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Falcons only a 3-point spread favorite over the Browns. The over/under total in that game is 41.
Obviously the surprise is that the point spread is only three points in that game, although the Browns are coming off a win and the Falcons struggled last Sunday against the 49ers at home. Still, the point spread seems a tad low.
Another spread that jumped off the page a bit is the one between the Jaguars and Bills. Buffalo has been installed as a 1-point underdog despite being brutal against the Jets in Week 4. Jacksonville, on the other hand, knocked off the defending AFC champion Colts and now finds itself as only a 1-point underdog against a bad Bills team. Of course, the Jags played poorly for two straight weeks before they beat the Colts, so that obviously contributes to the odds. (Not to mention they’re on the road.)

The Sunday night game pits the Philadelphia Eagles at the winless San Francisco 49ers, while the Monday Night Football game has Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings squaring off against his old team the New York Jets. Oddsmakers have installed the 49ers as a 3-point favorite, while the Vikings are a 4.5-point road underdog.
