Giants vs. Texans Free Pick
The Giants got back on the right track last week with a win over the Bears and they hope to carry that momentum into Sunday’s game against the 3-1 Texans. Read on to check out our pick of this Week 5 matchup.
Before we get to our pick, let’s take a look at the current point spread.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Texans a 3-point favorite over the Giants in Week 5. The over/under total for this game has been set at 47.5 points.
As previously mentioned, the Giants improved to 2-2 on the year with their win over the Bears last Sunday night. They also improved their ATS record to 2-2, although they’re 0-1 on the road this year and failed to cover against the Colts in Indianapolis three weeks ago.
The Texans improved to 3-1 on the year by beating the Raiders and are now 3-1 against the spread. They failed to cover against the Cowboys in Week 3, however, and lost outright as a home favorite that day. They’re 1-1 at home this season and 1-1 against the spread in Houston.
The Pick:
The Giants are just 2-8 against the spread versus a team with a winning record in their last 10 games and 1-4 ATS in their last five outings as an underdog. They’re 0-4 ATS in their last four games following an ATS win and 0-4 in their last four road games versus a team with a winning home record.
The Texans, on the other hand, are 4-1-1 against the number in their last six games in October and 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games overall. They’re also getting receiver Andre Johnson (high ankle sprain) back after he missed their game last week, which will be huge to help Houston neutralize New York’s outstanding pass rush. My pick is the Texans –3.
