NFL Week 2 Odds
After a wild opening week that consisted of upsets, injuries and fluke plays, the NFL heads into Week 2 of its 2009 season this week. Let’s check out the odds and over/under totals for all of Week 2’s action.
There are some interesting games on the Week 2 schedule, perhaps the most intriguing being the matchup at Soldiers Field on Sunday between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Chicago Bears.
After a disastrous opening week debut, Bears quarterback Jay Cutler will look to rebound against a tough Steelers defense. Cutler threw four interceptions last Sunday night against the Packers and could find things even tough this week against a Steelers defense that thrives off making opponents pay for their mistakes.
Oddsmakers from online sports book BetOnline has made the Steelers a 3-point road favorite in their matchup with the Bears. The over/under total for that game has been established at 37.5.
Another intriguing matchup on the Week 2 schedule pits the New York Giants against the Dallas Cowboys in a battle of two NFC East teams. Oddsmakers have made the Giants a 3-point road underdog, while establishing the over/under for that game at 44.
Both the Giants and Cowboys are coming off impressive debuts in Week 1, as New York edged out Washington 23-17 and Dallas thumped Tampa 34-21. This game will be the first one in the Cowboys new, luxurious stadium.
NFC South rivals meet at the Georgia Dome this week when the Atlanta Falcons host the Carolina Panthers. The Falcons got off to a great start to the season by beating the Dolphisn 19-7 last Sunday, while the Panthers were crushed by the Eagles 38-10.
Atlanta has opened as a 6.5-point home favorite over Carolina.
